Rastas seem to be very pro black. Coming from Jamaica I have a few in my family and they seem to practice what they preach as far as I can see. A lot of Rastas shun materialism, read a bible book a day, appreciate natural beauty(Bob Marley wouldn't let his wife wear makeup or weaves).

Some of their ideals are a bit extreme but the movement seems postive for the most part.

When you realize there are different groups of Rasta (same as Christianity) eg Baptists, Catholics, Anglicans, Non-denomationals...etc.

For Rasta you have houses such as - Bobo, 12 Tribes, Nyabinghi as well as other tie ins such as Eithopian Orthodox (which is a Christian branch), Fulfilled Rasta which again based on Christianity etc.

Then study what fits you... you will realize it isn't a CULT. It is a true religion. All religions branch out...

Haile Selassie teachings are good things to study, as well as the pro-black sides of some Rasta houses.

Bob Marley was 12 Tribes of Israel.
Capleton is Boboshanti... (pro black)
I would like to reason, but I am not very knowledgeable of all topics. Have been pursuing it on my own, though. Im in foreign, not much people to reason with locally.

I am a member here: Fulfilled Rastafari House
I have read the teachings of Haile and his quotes. (Can find some on playstore or google searches).

Read the Kebra Nagast also...

i posed a question for clarification purposes :

Did H.I.M. have any ties to the Rosicrucian Movement?

As far as I know Selassie was not a Member of the Rosicrucian Order.
But It is worth Noting that Two of the Three founders of Rastafari were members of Prince Hall a branch of American Free Masonry.

Who were they?
The three founder of Rasta are
Leonard Howell
Archibald Dunkley
Joseph Hibbert
Robert Hinds*

Howell was called the Gong and was the original and reputed first to called Selassie God and adapt his name Ras Tafari as divine.
Dunkley and Hibbert were both members of Prince Hall and called him Jah/Yah.
The were all Garveyites - Members of the UNIA
