So many memories. During some eras they actually would hold movies and games for you. Some Fridays when it was something hot releasing, I'd straight use the phone at my elementary school to call have them hold something till my folks got off work :russ:. Then there were many years my Dad was off Fridays so I ate really good then. But going in and browsing was still the best. Praying that if you didn't see the game in a section that they had it up front. The worst was when niether of my parents would go till Saturday morning. I would walk in defeated already. Good times. By the time I was a teenager the whole staff knew me and would put stuff aside for me :lolbron:.

I never worked at a Blockbuster but I did work for a local chain back in the day in my early 20s in the early 2000s, just as DVDs were blowing up. It was magical working at a video store. Get to watch movies all day at work, eat free popcorn, get free movie/game rentals, rent the newest shyt over the weekend before it was released on Tuesday, special ordering shyt for myself to buy from the distributor at cost. :banderas:

Everybody got their rental for the weekend. The parents would get the family action or comedy, kids get the genesis game plus anime or disney flick.

To be fair they didn't see the vision
If they had brought Netflix it wouldn't be the Netflix it became

They proposed that Netflix, which would rename themselves Blockbuster, would handle the online business, while Blockbuster should take care of the DVDs, making them less dependent on U.S. Postal Service. But the offer was declined.

In that scenario Reed Hastings would have continued working with the company, so yeah, in all likelihood it probably would have gone on to become what Netflix is today.

I should have worded it better, 'acquisition' rather than a simple 'buyout'.
