The original premise was two brothers with same dad, different moms. Dad was a scumbag and caused both siblings to hate each other. In the end, they ended up being cool. Had your typical high school drama with all forms of the fukkery. School shootings, point shavings, love triangles, Rick Fox, Scumbag Dan, teens having sex with adults. Dad ended up killing his brother during a school shooting and essentially got away with it.

Then instead of just ending the show after high school, they did the time skip which contained even more forms of fukkery. It was essentially the Grey's Anatomy before Grey's Anatomy as every season always contained some level of fukkery that put characters lives at stake

Nathan got drafted in the NBA to only have his dreams shattered after being crippled from being punched through a glass window on draft night
