Your points seem to contradict or clash.

how so? they make the decision as to what to publish. at this point they probably have tons of data on the 'types' of stories people are drawn to, as well as the types of stories people find 'boring' or whatever. similar to the current market with music, movies, games, etc. but the thing is, they're not supposed to be in the entertainment business. they're supposed to have a more serious job to do, that may lead to *gasp* less profits. originally TV news was a loss for TV stations. the idea was the FCC gave them the rights to use frequencies that belong to 'the people'. they used those frequencies to make tons of money, so they were required to 'give back' by having the news on 3 times a day. but over time that evolved to where we're at now, where the news is expected to generate a profit

I don't know what the solution is to all this, as it is it's a symptom of bigger issues within capitalism

Would you want to know details? As in who died, how they died, what happened, what time, etc..?

Its this freakish news cycle we have, also the producers are behind the drop in quality, one got fired for editing Zimmerman's 911 calls and another did a hack job on Sandusky's Bob Costas interview that they are appealing the conviction.

What makes the questions stupid? What point do I need to make that are not implied by the line of questioning?

Usually when one is baited down a line of questioning, there's a point to it.

Asking someone if they'd want to know the details of an incident after they already stated they'd want to know what happened :what:

But apparently it's just pointless questioning, so :manny:

Knowing what happened and knowing vital and specific details are relevant to the debate at hand.

How do you report on a mass murdering without showing the killer's picture, mentioning the body count or asking why?

I get what duke is saying but lets be realistic here.
