the way math is taught is all fukked up...teachers make students think math is all about remembering shyt [like pemdas] instead of demonstrating how it is useful...it aint like you caint be good at math [knowing when and how to use it] if you dont memorize all its principles...i bet einstein had his math books open when he was trying to figure out shyt...committing principles of math to memory is expedient but unnecessary in my opinion...the book is a tool like any other...

I agree but things like order of operations are useful because of organizational purposes. It allows people through out the world to follow the rules and get the same results.

One issue I have with teaching math is that most professors or teachers suck the philosophical and conceptional properties out of it.

We also keep teaching kids to memorize formulas and theorems when we essentially walk with computers and books on our beings (for the most part ). We should be making the problems more complex but let students use MatLab or graphing calculators. Teach them how to make the supercomputers push the limit.

Something's have to be memorized to make things more time efficient, even when using machines, but some of the shyt out there is just a waste of time in memorizing.

I AM A FIRM BELIEVER IN TEACHING THE PRINCIPLES OF MATH OVER TEACHING THEM TO MEMORIZE MATH. THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS WHY KIDS HAVE A TOUGH TIME LEARNING OTHER MATH SYSTEMS.

When I learned PEMDAS they made it very clear that with addition/subtraction and multiplication/division, you do the one that comes FIRST in the particular problem.

Exactly

But, BEDMAS > PEMDAS
