well is he a 3-4 2 gap guy? if so then yea he is a Billy Davis clone. your defense isnt going to be top 10 with the way the defense is always on the field. just gotta hope he is better at getting your defense off the field when they can. that is where our defense & Billy came up small at times.

plenty of teams run a 3-4 2 gap defenses, doesnt mean all those DCs are billy davis clones. a lot of 3-4 defenses combine both 2 gap and 1 gap concepts anyway, and can operate from different bases. plus the 'gap' part isnt as important anyway because on pass downs no one is playing 4 or 5technique

our previous oc was actually kind of a 3-4 2 gap guy. our budding star arik armstead is a classic 5 technique guy who will rush out of the 3 technique on pass downs

I don't think I'm as down on the hire as some, we got a young coordinator who has the potential to grow with this fairly young defense. I will say this though, it's clear our offense is going to have to do heavy lifting early if we are going to win games.
