If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
What's up with QT and re-imagined alternative history of real historical events? Like, who is he making these films for :gucci:? Himself? Is it cathartic on some level? I get re-imagining events that people don't really know what the hell happened -- Roanoke would be an example. But, Sharon Tate is still dead. What's the point? I think it just doesn't work for me in the context of film. I can understand more in the medium of music. Lupe is awesome at coming up with alternatives to real life circumstances that were fukk shyt. However, this shyt was extra light.

There's some great performances. There's some funny lines (here to do some devil shyt, burned her ass to a crisp, etc). There's even some great scenes. When Brad goes to the ranch is a great scene, but overall this movie is a mess and the tie-ins to real life seem superfluous. I'm glad I didn't see this in the theater. :yeshrug:

I'll bet a significant portion of the audience had no idea what real story he was riffing on. I'd be surprised if more than 60% knew who Sharon Taste was before this movie, tbh.

Yeah I think terantino goes in making these movies for himself and his ego and shares it with the public if that makes sense. I appreciated his depiction of an alternate ending of the tate-labianca murders. I didn't know much except for a light wikipedia search but man when u read about what happened to the people in that house by the hands of these goofies worshipping a white supremacist, I am glad for the last 15 mins of this film even though I was born in '89. The ending was a big payoff for me.

It was a slow burn, I felt bored throughout when I watched it in theaters but I told myself I would probably enjoy it more at home and I did.

Idk why Tarantino decided to Deep Fake Leo in certain scenes but kept Sharon Tate's actual scene even though Margot dressed up as Sharon's character in the part with Bruce Lee.

cool movie. Acting was good. All that carefree hitchhiking during that period is amazing to me
The movie had me obsessed with the Manson Family for a couple days, I watched all kinds of documentaries/read articles

silly but enjoyable movie...I bought into it when they introduced roman polanski but I was more so interested in who margot robbie was playing so I googled it and seen who she was playing and what/who she was connected to...didn’t wanna spoil the movie for myself so I stopped my search and went back to watching the movie w/ a renewed interest and wasn’t disappointed...just finished it and now I’m gonna actually read about the actress she played and her connection to “charlie”...decent flick

*edit*

oh shyt :merchant: damn...just read that quincy jones was supposed to be @ sharon tate home that nite too...wow...sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction...jeezus christ smh

Well he had two choices, show Sharon Tate having her baby cut out of her womb and brutally murdered or go with an alternate history. I think his choice was the right one and was sweet to her memory. Alternate history isn’t anything new. As to who it’s for? Not sure. But I really enjoyed the movie

If QT ain't copying someone else's shyt, he wack. :unimpressed:
He'll get some big names that might kill a performance but his writing and directing is college film class level. He's just got the budget and cache to do things.

Well no one has to show a baby being cut our of someone regardless that's just stupid to even think that would be a "choice". He could have CHOSE to not even wrap the movie with the Manson shyt in the first place. But Quentin wanted to Quentin so we go this.

Exactly! Nobody is asking to see a fetus cut out on film. No one needs to see that. The Manson tie in was some bullshyt that was done for no real reason.
