Man this thread should be stickied on general principle :ehh:

I wonder if there were any casual moviegoers that were turned off from seeing Ant-Man by seeing all that CGI green screen gobbedy gook, as opposed to the movie taking place in the regular world, and featuring those side characters from the previous films (Pena, TI) they know and love :jbhmm:

Creed Deals Majors Damage; Knocks Out Kang & Conquers the Box Office: Weekend Box Office Results (Mar. 3-5)

Michael B. Jordan is back with a vengeance as Adonis in Creed lll. He took on all comers and knocked them all out to the tune of $58.6 million. And that was without the Rocky Balboa stimulus. All three Creed movies have now opened with more than the previous entry. Creed made $29.6 million in 2015. Creed ll checked in with $35.5 million in 2018. That gives Creed lll a 65.1% higher opening than Creed ll. :leon:

Hey, we can talk about inflation (Creed ll's opening adjusts to $42.1M) but I really don't think it is applicable here that much because of the trend that has been established in the Creed series. Creed lll is still 39% ahead of Creed ll's inflation adjusted opening. They just make more and more and they're critically acclaimed. It's got an 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, a 74 on Metacritic and it got an A- cinemascore. :wow:

im-ready-damian-anderson.gif

Ant-Man 3 took home second place with $12.4 million. That's a cool little 61% decline but that gives Jonathan Majors the top two spots on the charts. :manny: Disney knocked off 520 theaters so they see what's up in the quantum realm. It's now made $186.7 million after 3 weekends. That's only 13% ahead of where Ant-Man and the Wasp was. When adjusted for inflation, it's actually 4.7% behind Ant-Man 2's pace. :wow:

quantumania-scott-lang-ant-man-scott-lang.gif

Jonathan Major just putting work in.

Cocaine Bear came through with a cool $11 million which was a 52% drop off from last week. That's a good hold for this type of movie. I saw it last week and enjoyed it but the editing was a little off and it felt long for a 90 minute movie. It's now made $41.2 million domestically and $52 million worldwide. That's a lot of dollar bills to use as tooters.

The Crunchyroll anime flick, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba - To the Swordsmith Village debuted with $10.1 million from only 1,774 theaters. It's been out for a month in Japan already where it's already made $23.3 million. Audiences enjoyed it as it got to B+ cinemascore. Man, these Crunchyroll joints always seem to do numbers.

I think this is from the movie. :lolbron:

Jesus Revolution rounded up the top five with $8.6 million. It added 100 theaters to spread the good word and it's now made $30.5 million.

$30 million, who you think you got, Kelsey Clinton, Kelsey Carter? Chelsea Grammer? $30 million who you think you hugging over there, Kelsey Grammer?!

Notables

With $23K, Violent Night has now grossed $50,007,955

M3GAN continues to crawl to $100 million. With another $234K, it's now made $94,893,585.

Knock at the Cabin fell down to 11th place but still made $580K and has now grossed $35 million.

Not surprised at Creed, wom has been good. Don't see it falling out of the top 5 this month.

And now begins Ant-man's drop from the top 3.

Wonder how much more Cocaine Bear is gonna do since they said it's going to vod on the 14th.

Glad Creed came in and did its thing because the rest of the month is looking PACKED.

That Dungeons and Dragons joint looks like it could be fun but the MCU-style comedy makes me wonder if it will take off with the audience…especially now. The promotional material screams “low-effort”/imminent flop yet crazier things have happened.

Local AMC needs to get them Dolby screenings up for Scream VI. Ghostface jackin’ timbs this week. :blessed:

No Sidney, No Problem. SCREAIVI's Core 4 Stabs Box Office up for $44.5M: Weekend Box Office Results (Mar. 10-12)

Was I disappointed that Neve Campbell was not back for SCREAIVI? Yes I was. Did it impact my enjoyment of the movie? Not really. And apparently, many moviegoers felt the same way, as SCREAIVI debuted with a franchise beat $44.5M. That crushed SCREAIVl's $30M debut by 48%.

It was evident from the Thursday previews with Scream 6 doing $5.7M to Scream 5's $3.5M. Both of Radio Silence's Scream's are rocking B+ CinemaScores. Part 5 has a 76% on Rotten Tomatoes to Part 5's 75%. So, the quality is consistent and the fans are responding. We could be looking at the first Scream to cross $100M since 1997's Scream 2. I'm rooting for it.
Sam was looking right, too. As was Samara Weaving in that dress.:shaq:

ghostface-scream-6.gif

Great scene.

Creed lll took second place with $27.1M. It was only a 53.4% dropoff from last week's first place debut. It's running total is now $101.3M. All 3 flicks in the franchise are now $100M movies. It only took Creed lll 10 days to cross the mark. Creed ll did in 24. Creed did it in 38. That's some rapid escalation right there. :wow:

i-won-adonis-creed.gif

Debuting in third place with a cool $12.3M was Sony's 65. As in 65 million years ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Not bad at all for a movie that was projected to barely scrape $10M. That 38 on Metacritic tho? :picard: Shout out to Adam Driver for being an actual Marine tho.

backing-up-mills.gif

Ant-Man 3 fell 2 spots to 4th place with $7M. Scott Lang is still struggling to crack $200M. He's currently taken in $197.9M. It's $18.7M away from passing Ant-Man 2's $216.6M domestic total. Its $447.5M worldwide running total is $71M behind Ant-Man's $518.8M. :scust:

duplicate-ant-man.gif

Fresh off of her visual effects-less Oscars appear, was Cocaine Bear with $6.2M, which was good for 5th place. That puts the bear's cocaine habit $51.6M in the hole. :ehh:

Champions debuted with $5.1M. It got an A CinemaScore. Makes sense since it went from $1.1M on Friday to $2.0M on Saturday. I might wanna catch this one to see if Dee Reynolds reprises her role as a court appointed youth basketball coach.
