Oscar winner Jamie Foxx will be taking on arguably the most challenging role of his career in anupcoming MLK biopic directed by Oliver Stone.

The controversial director has confirmed the project, which is currently untitled, and will be released by DreamWorks and Warner Brothers pictures.

Foxx and Stone collaborated together in 1999 for the hit NFL drama Any Given Sunday.

The MLK film will be produced by Steven Spielberg and reportedly has the blessing of the King family, who will serve as executive producers on the movie.

This movie is one of three major King films currently in development. Captain Phillips director Paul Greengrass is said to be directing a film about the end of King’s life called Memphis and up-and-coming black filmmaker Ava DuVernay has taken over the reins of the long-in-development Selma (a film which was previously linked to The Butler director Lee Daniels).

David Oyelowo, who played Forest Whitaker’s son in The Butler, will play King in the DuVernay film.

Should I be happy or disappointed that it has taken THIS long to make a movie on MLK?

Or am I just that ignorant that I am unaware of any movies about MLK?

Can these nikkaz find any new Black actors to play historically important Black figures? :what:

Oliver Stone is garbage, as well.
Stone is great. He's got this documentary series on Showtime (I think) that is educational and interesting.

Wait, I take it back.
Oliver Stone WAS great. His last few works have been kinda ....they've been lacking any real bite.

Yeah that's kind of a good point.
Black people can't even make movies about black people?
I want to know what Spike Lee's words on this are.

Or maybe he didn't want to make it?
