First tape i ever dubbed. Early 96 i got it.

To me , wu tang and mobb deep was tye best of the best, making authentic soulful music noone else could replicate.

While evryone else was chasing established sounds and the new pop sounds that emerged, they did it the best.

Thank god the rza told havoc no to producing on the album and told him to make his own beats.

Back in the day there was a record store that used to have Albums/CDs with headphones that they'd let ppl listen to them. I was a youngin at the time so for me to buy a CD I had to scrape my loot together, I first saw the Shook Ones Part. 2 video and was like "yoooooo I need this joint" so I went to the record store and they let me peep the album, I still remember hearing "Start of your Ending" and I played it back to back to back before moving on to the next song. I might've made it to "Eye for an Eye" and was "sold!" and bought it on the spot.

Uptown, NYC
Everyone had this album in NYC, when it dropped.

I remember at the ball tournament on 145th & Lenox (Baby Rucker) that summer, the two records they played all day were "Shook Ones" and "How High". At The Rucker you would hear "Survival of the Fittest" and "Shook Ones" nonstop. This and OB4CL had the city in a chokehold from that spring to damn near winter.

Easily one of the best Hip Hop albums ever.
