not defending that but most of us would know the outcome already right? The twist in the OG was very powerful and the film should be left alone, unless, the remake would be issued a decade or much later on.

Most of us? Yes. Most people? Hell no. You gotta remember the people on this board ain't the average movie goer. I've yet to meet anyone that heard of "Oldboy", let alone seen it, before I put them up on it.

I dunno when you seen the movie but there was no "build up" for me. I seen it around the time it came out in the U.S., fairly close to it's original release around '03. So there was very little hype surrounding it unless you were hardcore into info on foreign movies.

It wasn't like I went into it expecting a twist. I heard it was great, and was impressed by the direction, cinematography and acting. The twist was just some extra shyt. Take out the twist and you still have classic cinema like the hammer scene, the hallway fight, the editing when he's locked up, the octopus scene, etc. With the twist it's on another level.

"Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" was aight. "Oldboy" and "Lady Vengeance" are his best movies. "Thirst" was aight too. That cyborg movie was trash.

If you like these kinds of movies "I Saw The Devil" is another classic.

Fred.

Ill quote this post just to cosign I Saw the Devil. That movie was fukkin crazy in a good way. Totally different from anything you'd see in holywood nowadays. As for this thread I'm not really cool with directors biting asian cinemas. I wasn't that cool with it when Scorsese remade the departed altho that worked obviously worked out good. Ill give this one a chance in the same way. But good directors especially should be able to come up with their own shyt

I was so excited when i heard they were doin this remake...and i heard about the possible actors for it(bale as the villian woulda been piff....) but im not a huge Brolin fan and im not aware of many of the movies the main heel is in, so well see...brolin said there is more focus on his incarceration in this movie...cant wait for a trailer to get a feel for it....

Looking forward to this....I won't judge until i see the actual film. Expectations ruin a lot of good movies for people.
