i have seen many argue he is the GOAT, but many argue that he is overrated because he never truly tested himself in the UFC

how good was he really? wasn't really watching MMA in his prime...

very well rounded. Easily the goat ground and pound at heavyweight if not overall. Probably the fastest hands of any heavyweight next to his brother. Great grappling. He was very hard to beat

I think so. And ngannou would also have to watch out for fedors hands. And his grappling is way above what ngannou has. Ngannou has a chance against anyone because his insane power but I favor fedor

top 3 HW at the time, i still think Couture/Mir/Barnett would have given him problems, if not beat him, but they never fought.
fedor would have fought couture at the rings 2000 tourney had tk not "beaten" him. i'm still tight after all these years that we were denied that fight, if fedor got past couture he would've fought valentijn overeem and big nog on the same night too.

Beast in his prime, excellent athlete and strategist. Never fought an elite top game wrestler in his prime (old man Coleman doesn’t count), but he beat everyone they put in front of him in PRIDE convincingly.

I think Cain in his prime beats him down.

I think he beats any version of Mir, but Barnett was one of the most interesting matchups that never happened. Fedor’s bottom game honestly wasn’t that great (Bigfoot exposed him), and that could have been a factor in that hypothetical fight.

I think he was the most complete mixed martial artist b4 the more modern era of mma where most of the top guys are at least capable to good in a few discipline.

Him vs Randy was the big deal back then, but I think he would have destroyed Randy back then.

When Fedor was in his prime while fighting in PRIDE, they had the best heavyweight fighters. Not sure why he would have needed to fight in the UFC to prove himself when they had the inferior competition. Easily one of the top 3 heavyweights of all time.

He'd murk Ngannou imo.

Fedor actually understood correct distance, the right punches to throw, how to feign, block, counter, throw actual combos etc.

Ngannou is garbage aside from power.

That kind of fighter has no chance against top quality opposition.

Yea at his prime he was probably the best like my cousin above said.

On top of that for the rules, which was more lacking than current MMA rules. He was a god.

like one thing I miss about Pride was the more save and brutal they was. Stomps and face kicks on downed fighters was allowed

It was truly more about survival than it was competition and a sport. Which was cool with me
