Im cool with that. If only I can find a tube site that has the second merqui Sosa - prince Charles williams fight uploaded. The first is available on YouTube and is classic as hell but the second one :wow:...prince Charles had to leave on a stretcher...this was coming off benn - McClellan and ruelas - garcia so that was crucial. Most violent pair of fights I've ever seen at 175

one of the best fights ive ever seen...with a tragic aftermath:to:

Kid Akeem should have won IMO, I had it 116-112 for him if I remember correctly.

The aftermath was awful. They were using 6 oz gloves and getting pummeled. Kid Akeem collapsed, and some of the sadistic fans were chanting "D.O.A.". It's rumored he was trying to box again when he went to Nigeria, and that's how he died, from the brain trauma.

Then Quiroga gets killed by a biker over a fukking Scarface poster?

That's one of the more depressing great fights.

shyt this this fight showed me how underrated hagler is as a pure boxer. nikkas just like to call him "slugger...tough guy".

hagler could outbox your ass from the outside and also was a master at inside fighting. shyt he also switch up to south paw and ko power in both hands.

duran won at most about 3 rounds....he got outboxed so he wants to front like haggler wasn't hurting him by throwing his hands up and smiling.:deadmanny:

shyt he wasn't hurting hagler either.....the more I look back at duran....dude was kinda a sore loser:patrice:

Hagler was first and foremost a boxer who methodically broke guys down. He just got that rep as a brawler because of some fights late in his career, particularly the Hearns fight, which Hagler had to take it to him because Hearns was great at boxing from the outside and most dangerous with his right cross when he got leverage and distance on it.

If Duran won the 15th round against Hagler, he would have gotten the decision, and that would have been a huge robbery. Duran did well all things considered, fighting 25 lbs above his peak weight against arguably a prime version of arguably the best middleweight ever (he had like 80-90 pro fights by then) the first title defense of Hagler's that went the distance....but it wasn't that close. I think it had it 10-4-1 or 9-5-1 Hagler. Duran was getting some generous cards around this time. Wilfred Benitez thoroughly outboxed him and one judge had it very close. Duran was much more inconsistent above 147, and I think it's where more of his issues with mobile guys came into play. The Duran of lightweight and welterweight was super light on his feet.

Hagler's style gets remembered incorrectly due to a couple of high profile fights...Leonard also gets that rep as a dancer but he was generally better flat-footed, like against Benitez. He had an all-time great left hook IMO and was one of the best finishers ever.

I think Hagler was at his absolute peak against Minter.

The bodyshots!

Eddie Mustafa Muhammad could fight his ass off but was notoriously lazy in training. Later on he became a trainer for James Toney, which I suppose is fitting.

He also was in Iran Barkley's corner when Toney beat the crap out of him. Eddie did the right thing and stopped it over Iran's protests.

Man, James Toney was something else in his prime. That fluency, poise and speed were extraordinary. But this also shows the absurd talent levels of RJJ.
