I was surprised at how bad both Jake and Tilda were. It goes to show how important the director's guidance is for an actor's performance.

The biggest problem with this movie though, by far, was the fact that the protagonist and subject matter are targeted towards kids (cute little girl goes on an adventure to rescue her cute animal friend) but the movie is full of cussing and gore that nobody would want their kids to hear or see.

Hell, there's even an Okja rape scene! Even I felt a little traumatized by that one, and I'm a grown-ass woman.

Kind of hard to see how they could have overlooked that problem...

I'm watching this now, and I've been trying to put a finger on what bothers me about Gyllenhaal's performance. I still think overall it's good; his character is supposed to be a crackpot (like Timmy Treadwell from Grizzly Man). But the voice shifting he does is pretty annoying. Could've done without it.

The great cac liberators come through to save an animal, and the only Asian member lies to his brethren and hits her with "learn English, it'll open your world"
And you never really felt the connection between Okja and Mija, or at least I didn't..
And Jake G. seems like he lifted my mans Tracy Morgan "I'm Brian Fellows" character from SNL and just ran with it..
I need them 2 hours back
Also like someone mentioned, you just randomly throw a simulated rape scene into a movie..
That disturbed the fukk out of me(and I've watched tons of disturbing shyt. From Tokyo Shock to a lot of Korean Revenge flicks)..

the weird thing is that he doesn't actually say that in korean. he says "my name is blah blah blah."

but the subs took it in a completely different direction.
