Remember the Batman shooter?
He had a cinema that was closer to him than the one he went to, but they allowed people to bring guns with them.

The one he did end up going was further away from his house and they didn't allow guns.

I'm not sure where I stand on this issue

To be honest I think it makes sense that people are allowed to defend themselves.
The police don't prevent much crime, they typically come after the crime already occured.
But people defending themselves is a good idea.

Look at Mexico, very strict gun control laws.
But what's happening? Everyone is dying!

Because for the majority of murders it's not registered gun owners that shoot now is it?
It's the people that circumvent laws.

I mean what do you think criminals will say "oh I can't own a gun anymore because it's illegal"?
They are criminals, everything they do is illegal.

Now the reason why i'm slightly on the fence with this is because americans are just too in love with guns.

Like why be so much in love with weapons like it's part of your culture?
Why have guns in your culture?

too many guns and too much affordable ammo in circulation for anything to be done. gun control would be great if it were in place before well over 300 million guns were sold to us.

more people owning guns will do nothing to help. in several cases there have been gun carriers in the area of a spree shooter, and they never fired their own weapons. in my own state, there was a gun carrier in tucson, and he only helped tackle the shooter after his 33 round mag was empty. he didnt buss his gun during those 33 shots.

Facts are. Americans have a certain attitude and we are a violent society. Culturally and historically we have a win at all costs, no one better fukk with me attitude. We are told as kids we better fight anyone who messes with us, and if anyone gets over on us, they are going to pay.

Its a cultural and societial problem. Guns are just the tool by which we enforce our violence.

Laws only work for people who follow the rules to begin with. We are NEVER going to get rid of guns. So... whats left.

In america, the places with the strictest gun control, have the most violent crimes/murders with guns. While places with lax gun laws have the least.

So.....Its all ready illegal for citizens to own a fully AUTO weapon so no need to discuss that. Semi auto is just one round per pull....

People dont know what makes a gun an assault rifle. They are illegal all ready also.
People think a rifle is an assault rifle becuz they way it looks. Because you have a black gun its an assault rife, you could have the same gun with a wood stock, but then people would say thats ok, its a deer rifle.

The CT Assault Rifle Ban has been put into effect.

Like a dumbass, I forgot to get the newly required Certificate of Ownership for my AR15 in time (January 1)

Checked out the website, thinking I could just pay a late fee..turns out my 3 options are to

1. render it permanently inoperable
2. Give it to the police
3. Sell it to a federally licensed arms dealer

penalty for noncompliance: felony misdemeanor - one year in prison

Weapons shouldn't be banned. Educate and properly license gun owners and you'll fix most of the problems that come from legal gun issues.
