Rap icon Max B, also known as Charly Wingate, was found guilty of involvement in a robbery that left a man dead after the State of New Jersey coerced co-defendant Gina Conway to testify against him and the gunman in exchange for a lesser sentence. Charly was sentenced to 40 years on September 4th, 2009, without any evidence presented by the state. The actual gunman was captured and also testified, but he still received a life sentence for committing the murder. Max B was accused of orchestrating a robbery and then convicted for armed robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault, and murder. Many feel the rapper's conviction was unusually harsh, cruel and unlawful. Pardon the Wave is collectively organizing a petition for his release. We are looking to approach both Governor Chris Christie and President Barack Obama for a pardon, or at the very least, a retrial. Charly did not receive a fair trial, and is simply asking to be given a rightful retrial. Supporters are asked to sign the petition and to inform their friends and family about Pardon the Wave; our goal is 4 million signatures. Despite the charges and allegations, the rapper was not even in the state at the time when the crime was committed, nor did he obstruct justice when approached by police.
