The fans were popping for him against Legacy......Vince said "fukk it" and ran with it
Next thing you know they pair him in against Edge and the fans didn't know who to boo or cheer, eventually they just kept cheering Orton on TV appearances and he started feuding with Heel Sheamus which pretty much sealed the deal
They kept teasing a Orton/Cena feud but the fans rejected it every time. I think people just wanted to cheer Orton because he was a "cool" anti-hero type character.
He should never be face again for the remainder of his career IMHO
that edge orton shyt was awful, edge cut this promo about how he was pretending to be the nice guy or some shyt and was pissed people still cheered an a$$hole like orton..........only for edge to turn face again like 2 weeks later by beating up a laptop
