this is the way of the world

the real question is why is the LA times writing exposes on this and not your local alabama paper?

True....It's a San Diego based company that owned the gas company at one point. That's why a southern California newspaper is writing about it. You're right though, some Alabama journalist should be making noise with this story. That just goes to show the state of journalism in Alabama.

Plus it's mostly just affecting black and poor folks.....we know how that goes.

My anger at stories like these. Seems like every major corporation in America is taking advantage of the people who work for them. Or ignoring the people that live with them in their neighborhoods. All because some greedy executives want to make their retirement money in only a few years so they can retire at 45 years old...
It's about this level of evil that I begin to have trouble drawing distinctions. Considering the underlying intent how much better are these people than assad gassing children today? Could they be worse?

Evil is evil. There is no distinction to be made.

Just make sure that if you're black that you and your close ones don't use or sell opioids.

That's the best I can say when I read articles like these because you already know what it is based on the community that these leaks affect the most.

Ah put a cork in it.

As of May 2016, Alabama joined federal lawsuits challenging the EPA's Clean Power Plan, water rule and mercury standards.
Environmental policy in Alabama - Ballotpedia
:mjlol:

What point are you making? Alabama doesn't haveto power to remove or ban the EPA from enforcing federal standards.

EPA failed in Alabama, Alabama state organization failed, the business failed, and people were hurt in the process of those 2 government organizations (state and federal) being in place and supposed to be protecting them.

To a larger point, the state of journalism in America sucks period. You shouldn't have to learn about this issue from a national newspaper. This isn't an issue that can be fixed or prevented via outrage from some random reader in NY. It's crazy.

At some point, you have to realize the failure of government is not of equitable degree across the 50 states. It's due in large part to you and the rest of your electorate.

You can't sit here and argue in one thread that the feds shouldn't have their hands in states affairs, then cry crocodile tears when the feds aren't there to bail you out because y'all can't get your shyt together.

Your tunnel vision is wild crazy. This story depicts the difference between:
- white and black
- affluent and poor
- California vs Alabama
- liberal ideology vs conservative ideology

Look at this butter soft ass post:
Damn shame, company needs to remedy what they allowed happen. The state needs to be held accountable for allowing it to happen as well.
The company will not remedy a thing in AL on its own and will follow the coattails of CA litigation. The state will not be held accountable. The state will not take a proactive stance towards environmental issues or environmental issues that overwhelmingly affect minority communities because THIS IS ALABAMA.

No fukks will be given by your legislature.

No fukks will be given by your media.

No one will bat an eye in your state - word to you guys trying to dismantle the Clean Air, water rule (as was already posted).

How is that not clear to you?

I know what you said, that is why I replied directly to what you said kid. State of Alabama can't stop the EPA from doing its job only thing they can do is take a case to court if they disagree, but the EPA still has the ability to act in according to its federal mandate.

What you don't understand is a federal agency has nothing to do with local state electorate, because its a federal organization filled with federal employees who aren't elected. I haven't sat in this thread and argued for the EPA though, I have said the EPA and the state regulatory body both failed, when they are both supposed to prevent this, so arguing for more of the same is ridiuclous. The problem is the regulatory state actually protects businesses, they aren't made for the benefit of the people. What don't you understand?

Basic english it seems.

The company will remedy the situation if the victims could take it to court and not get blocked or capped by a state infrastructure designed to protect it. You are right the state failing will most definitely not be held accountable. The EPA who also has oversight over this will not be held accountable. What don't you understand? Clean Air and Water Rule are in effect now, federal authority can be exercised now, it won't be. Yet you kids, seem to want more power by the bodies that show they don't work in the interest of the people.

SMH. Its called cognative dissonance kid, you have it seriously.

You think I"m arguing against myself because you have poor reading comprehension. I can't say I'm surprised judging from your inability to even follow the light discussion in this thread.
