Basically Yemen is the new Somalia, and instead of Ethiopia/Kenya slavery for Somalia, its Saudi/Irani for them.

Its a country with big clan dynamics, everyone is armed, and you have a north/south divide.
People keep saying "everyone is armed in Yemen" but I don't see common citizens taking up arms when their relatives get shot at by police during peaceful protests or even when there is open warfare between Houthis and Hadi's regime in the streets of Sanaa or Aden.

If anything the situation in Yemen should have been worse than in Syria by now?

So with all the talk being Syria, how come no one cares about what's going on in Yemen? Civil war that involves Saudi Arabia, Iran, ISIS, Al-Qaeda. Of course US out there with drones. Not only

The United States was also a major supplier of weapons to the Yemeni government, although according to the Pentagon, hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of that material has gone missing since it was delivered
:sas1:

An estimated 5000+ dead since March.

Why is it this isn't more in the news? Not enough deaths?:jbhmm:

They've been in a bad way for awhile in decades past.

They're hardly the only ones in the region, yet this conflict is under the radar...

KSA treating it like its toy and keeps outside media from reporting

Since KSA is the main Western ally in the region, does it mean the West condones it?
Whos fault is that? Why dont you guys spread democracy in yemen?:jbhmm:

Not enough bombs freedom for the whole area? :jbhmm:

To be fair, nobody cared about Syria at the beginning either. When Assad was dropping white phosphorous against civilians, it still didn't receive much coverage. It probably wasn't until the last Palestine/Israel conflict and the full on emergence of ISIS that the mainstream started to care. So yeah, really we only care about Syria because of ISIS. It's an easily identifiable enemy for the poorly educated American electorate. And its an easy political target to attack Obama with.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too, but the thing is that ISIS is making moves in Yemen too, as well as Al-Qaida. Basically I believe it's just not "full-blown" enough (with all due respect to all the dead there) and that Yemen doesn't have a boogey-man like Assad.

Isis is there too tho, as well as Al-Qaida.

Pretty much. Syria is the blockbuster film.

You know American's aren't trying to learn about another "new" country. They're still trying to understand that islam is not a singular philosophy.
