I'm guessing he used the stones to upgrade his systems to be able to exist outside of space and time. He was using his own power and not the stones.

I'm starting to think they wasted this storyline on animation.
Imagine if this were phase 5 of the MCU, movies from different parts of the multiverse only for them to converge in a huge buildup movie.

True but this is the best of both worlds because these episodes live action would cost a billy so they can do these stories animated and still say its canon.Im guessing when they win this Dr strange wont have a reality to go to so he is the one that ends up in spiderman somehow
imagine if Strange tried to absorb Uatu.

The CGI would cost too much to do this live action. That's the great thing about animation. The possibilities are endless with good animation. Even as far as live action CGI technology has come, it still can't do what animation can do without looking too fake.I'm starting to think they wasted this storyline on animation.
