probably at the point where they got to give illustrators raises, better to scrape or pause, wait a few years and start again.
plus Marvel hasn't had an viral IPs in a while , they need to restock the reservoir

Episode 2 started boring AF but got significantly better at the halfway point.

That's kinda the point of What If. Putting characters in random scenarios. To divorce them of canon and established backgrounds and see how these stories play out. It's really just a way for writers to realize some of their random ideas that come across them that they know would never A. Make it into canon and B. Have it's own series.
It's the same way when DC's Elseworlds series except those comics aren't one-offs and are usually short miniseries

Episode 3 is the best so far which is not saying much. overall this has been mid or boring.
