Iran is putting pressure on Iraqi allies to turn and isolate the US. Also this was a warning shot about how good and up to date their intel is.

It shows the propaganda they are spreading. This was a "see, we are responding" move for everyone to see. Would be interesting to know if the Soleimani assasination, the funeral with the Ayatollah crying and tonight (with the state "info" being that he was leading this operation) would have any sort of influence on all the unrest inside Iran.
