Does it matter how many stops were made before the slaves got to a land? Seeing and using people as slaves is the bigger issue, whether you went and trapped them yourself or simply buy from a secondary market. That’s like absolving southerners based in the US from slavery simply because they weren’t the Dutch and British merchants doing the trapping and import
