Why is this show so popular that it deserves a third resurrection (including movie)?![]()
I was mid 20s when I first watched it and loved it. I try to put people on to it still to this day. I've actually been looking for something to watch and this will be perfect for a rewatch.I don’t know the answer to that question, but what I will say is often you remember a show from years back (especially from when you were younger or a show aimed at younger people) and try to go back an watch it.
Most of the time you have good memories but you say to yourself “my taste is a lot better now that I’m older.”
Veronica Mars is a show that as you get older and you rewatch is actually better the more your taste is refined. There were references I didn’t get, subplots I didn’t fully understand, nuances to characters I understand better now etc.
It put together two things that have no right going together (noir, 50s style Private Investigator movies + high school/college teen dramedy) and nails it.
And I think a part of the reason people are excited every time this particular group of people get together and do anything is because honestly if you’ve seen this show you know that it can’t be replicated, rebooted or remade. Kristen Bell is the only Kristen Bell I’ve seen before or since, and Rob Thomas knows his world inside out. They’re the only ones who can give us this feeling.
Yes. Finally. I'm in. I'll probably rewatch it now.

Rob Thomas wrote a couple of follow-up books too.
I never knew this.
Are they available in audiobook format?
That description of this new season encapsulates everything I loved about the OG show. It's a go. 8 eps.
"In the revival, spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica is drawn into an epic eight-episode mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach."
