Thats what happens when you’re gassed up, everything is all good and your world gets shattered. I know that’s an aggressive statement but just like Trump fooled 30% of this country, they got fooled by the same people who ran up on them and wanted to kill them.
How many of these cops killing themselves you think had Punisher stickers, posted Blue Lives Matter, were chummy with Republicans or acted as if they were above the law? How many of them though they would be able to reason with these crazies? How many them have unjustly treated minorities and the marginalized with disrespect at the Capitol? Called some of these same nutcases that tried to kill them “their brothers”?
All across this country, the same “good cops” that don’t hold “bad cops” accountable day to day are realizing that their most ardent supporters, those same “bad cops” and even some of their fellow “good cops” will assault, maim, and kill them. The kicker is the same people asking for accountability are the only ones defending them. The only ones trying to protect them. The only ones trying to make their job easier.
That the people who were cheering them on and patting them on the back want them to treat them the same way they treat themselves. No accountability. No rule of law. No punishment. And to fight back against anything that says otherwise. But now you’re on the other side.
Just wait until these police departments have to start enforcing new COVID restrictions and vaccination policies. The next 18 months for law enforcement will be a reverse Dorner situation. All the years of not holding themselves accountable is going to result in those not rocking #Trumpset or #Novaccinegang to be targeted. As the tide turns in public opinion, these nutcases are going to have to be put in jail for trespassing, pulled off flights and probably worse when they are fired from their jobs. Coupled with gun restrictions being loosened all over the country, it’s a recipe for disaster.
And it’s sad. Honestly, the things that they aren’t qualified for that they are sent to deal with on a daily basis, untrained to make situations better or have a positive outcome, and the infiltration of scare tactics/police union demands into molding how they react in those situations. I blame the system overall.
But we know who created and maintains the system, so guess them chickens had to come home to roost.
