The House Impeachment Managers are currently breaking down--in detail--why the Senate must hold the impeachment trial, even though Trump is out of office.
Trump's lawyers tried to have the case dismissed, because they believe you can't impeach a former official (which, A. you most certainly can, and B. even if you can't, the House impeached Trump while he was still President.
