I thought there was a chance that the Senate could convict Trump, but the Democrats and the GOP aren't interested. Yes, this is both sides. :manny:

Not having witnesses lets me know they aren't serious. :manny:

They are all complicit at this point.

White people always out to protect other white people...:manny: no one should be surprised this is one big dog and pony show for the masses... they not gonna convict him...:snooze:

All 100 senators (and the 9 House impeachment managers) are witnesses. Why would they need to call in extra people? It would just be a time-waster :dwillhuh:

Also, the trial is taking place AT THE SCENE OF THE CRIME (the U.S. Capitol). The evidence is around them everyday.

nikka are you serious?

You bring in who was doing the back channel communication. Someone from the White House told the media that people would stand down at a certain time. I would like to know who that person was and where did that information came from.

You don’t prove a crime like this by citing witnesses—the 100 senators—who only saw the effect. The trial is “Donald Trump incited a riot.” That means a criminal conspiracy. That means you investigate.

The national guard didn’t come to aide Capitol police. Why? Who made that decision. The 100 people in the senate have no idea. Put people who did the organizing under oath.

By taking this way out, it’s clear neither side are interested in convicting Trump.

45 Republican Senators voted that it was unconstitutional. Writing been on the wall. Anyone who thinks 17 GOP Senators were going to vote to convict is crazy. They decided Trump is too important to the future of the party. Maybe they get Romney. Vote will likely be 51-49 or around there. We've known that for at least a couple weeks.

And the Democratic leadership agrees with them.

I knew this shyt was bunk when the House didn’t investigate Trump’s phone calls to state voting officials.

That's sounds like a criminal investigation to me. Impeachment is a purely POLITICAL process.

Go to the FBI & DOJ for that (the Senate needs to confirm Merrick Garland first). Also, Congress would have to set up a 9/11-style commission to work with those agencies to do all of what you're saying. However, all of that has nothing to do with impeachment.

I’m guessing it will be a little more than those who voted it was unconstitutional. Like 58-42. The issue of it being constitutional is separate from conviction, although most of them saying it’s unconstitutional were likely doing so in bad faith.
