Recent events did hurt Trump's image but a lot of conservatives are looking at trump as a martyr. GOP members in competitive districts are in lose lose situation regardless of what stance they take. Not supporting trump enough will cause a blow to their turnout and vice verca to a lesser extent. They wont vote for a dem but more will stay home.
