Would be nice to be wrong, but he’s been committing major national security level crimes in broad daylight for years and has been a professional criminal for his entire life and the system always seems to miraculously trip over itself when it comes time to bring the hammer down. It’s not a coincidence that his mentor was his party’s longtime advisor known for extortion and blackmail. The system has been compromised since at least the early 80’s when all the major players from Reagan & bush’s presidencies got off with no consequences for Iran/contra, crack, aids, the war on drugs, & Craig Spence. We’ve got 3 Supreme Court justices who were part of bush’s legal team that argued he should be allowed to send a goon squad to shut down the vote by force to win an election.
Democratic leadership aided/covered up his invasion of Iraq on false pretenses, torture programs, & leaving New Orleans and the gulf coast to drown after Katrina.
They rushed a bunch of trump judge nominations through in exchange to go on early vacation.
They bailed on fighting for major protections for people during the outbreak even as he bragged about using Covid as a weapon to kill people in states that he lost.
They bailed on the second impeachment in their own words because they wanted to be home for Valentine’s Day weekend.
They bailed on using the 14th amendment to purge congress of seditionists who openly worked and still work to overthrow the government.
Without sustained direct action in some form from the public that scares the upper 1% more than his retaliating would, this will fall apart too.
