Why is the 800 grouped? I understand 1500 and up but 800 seems short enough to keep lanes

Its the turns. Its got too many turns to not be a pack tactical race. 800m is short, but 2 laps is too much

theres not enough track to stagger all 8 lanes before the 1st turn. So Whoever gets placed on the outside lane would have to be placed an entire turn and a half ahead of the 1st lane runner just for the stagger to equate to 800 m, which would throw off pacing.... If that makes any sense. Person on the outside for example would basically be running against himself and wouldn't know what he has to do to win until halfway through the last turn. Which is too late for a race of that length.

Usually any track race past 1 lap is gonna finish grouped (exception of the 4x200 since each runner only faces one turn.)

China is more of an individual sports country, probably because of the one-child policy, so it makes sense they are in the lead since there haven’t been many team finals yet.

It's not about 1 child, it's that 40 years ago they started a giant Olympic development program to identify and target the sports where they could increase their medal count the easiest. Team sports don't do much for you cause you can only win 1 medal per gender and other countries already spend a ton of effort developing those. So they chose to focus on more obscure individual sports with lots of available medals and less competition like diving, shooting, weightlifting, table tennis, etc.

sounds like a sore loser

Murphy vented his frustrations after he took silver in the men’s 200-meter backstroke, losing to Evgeny Rylov of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).

so because you couldn't win you accuse someone of doping?

It's been being talked about for months. Russia and China both have MASSIVE state-sponsored doping programs plus there was very limited testing going on during the pandemic.

America has just as much doping scandal history as Russia
Goddamn you ain't paying no attention at all if you believe that. :mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

Russia had special agents breaking into labs to trade out athlete blood samples just in the last Olympic cycle. :francis:

Once again, irrelevant.

The Balco scandal was NOT a state sponsored systemic doping scheme. Point blank period.

I know that you're a butthurt Canadian that hates America but do better. You're looking pathetic right now.

He wrote 10+ comment claiming that Sha'carri smoking pot was "cheating" but insists the Russians are clean. :mjlol:

Was watching this women's doubles bronze-medal match, these Russian broads choked like a MF, blew a 7–2 lead. Brazil's first Olympic medal in tennis.

The US is just as bad as China and Russia. Include the UK too (tracks and cycling in particular).

The difference? China and Russia are super centralized countries that can organize state doping. The US and the UK are more federal and highly privatized countries; their doping programs are done through private clinics, sport centers, universities, "camp" (Nike Oregon). It's not as organized as Russia, but probably as spread. Which makes it harder to detect. The number of British medals at London 2012 for example was outrageous. But "China bad"...

Other difference, the US have more influence on international institutions and regulations. They can act as the policemen in the backstage.

All about administering these drugs the right way at the right time so you don't get caught lol.
