They need to stop trying to make being King of the Ring work - it has no prestige. Maybe if a winner actually wants to defend that shyt, it might mean something.. like when Bret won two times to lose to Owen third time going. That might work
King of the Ring used to mean, "We have high hopes for this person and he's about to be a more prominent figure going forward. Expect this person to contend for or win titles within the next year or so. Ideally he's in our main event for good."
Now it just means, "This person agreed to play the royalty gimmick." Not to mention the past couple of winners (Corbin, Barrett, Sheamus) were already pretty established players in the WWE.
