I managed to make it through both episodes, but it feels like a bit of a slog so far, though very good directing, and acting, from everyone. The kind of narrative has grown tired, to me, and I kind of sighed when I saw it was 10 episodes, I was thinking like 6 or 5, but I'll see how long I last.

This show is amazing. I love that slow burn.

This is what True Detective wishes it could be.

HBO got another one.

And the even got that detective guy from About Last Night on it.

No Whammies!!
Was the timeline jumping around in Episode 1? In one scene they were talking in future tense about arresting Bateman, after we already saw him getting arrested.

I'm kind of annoyed that this is based on a novel. I want to speculate on stuff, but it's not worth it if there are a bunch of people out there who already know the real answers.

First two episodes are great I will be tuning in but I must admit I am disappointed that it's most likely going towards a supernatural twist from what I can gather. I haven't read the book. I like stories that deal in reality. I was hyped thinking this might be a true detective who did it. But anyways maybe I'm wrong and I'll enjoy it. We'll see.

Yeah, I mean it is Stephen King so supernatural is to be expected. I would prefer something reality based and horror really isn't my thing. But the first ep was good enough, I'll see where it goes.

The allure of True Detective is that it teases supernatural elements throughout the season only for it to come out grounded in the end with realistic outcomes in regards to the cold cases. Speculating what the Yellow King was and letting that Lovecraftian dread take over is what made S1 a joy on my first watchthrough.

I definitely agree with you but knowing this is Stephen King lets us Know that this will be headed in a supernatural direction for sure. It’s going to be in a different pocket than true detective but cinematography and vibe wise it is very true detectivey

Yeah they were telling the story out of order timewise in the first episode.

And it's is possible that some things from the book have been changed for the series.
