In regards to Warzone, that was just failed attempt. John wick is proof that if they did it well people would love a punisher movie.

I disagree and will say this
A movie… you get only about 2hrs of these characters journeys and then they gone for 2-5 years. And in that 2 hours, since they have to share the screen, maybe only 45 mins with them.
These series, you really get to take a longer trip with them and grow with them for 8-13 eps for 8-13hrs.
You also get to do more with them and learn more. So I appreciate those Ip being shows vs movies and asking where is Shang Chi and what is he doing

I loved your journey, I felt your pain in ways I couldn’t feel in 2hrs 2-10 years ago.
And when you turned your back on everything they WE BELIEVED you stood for and all the people that loved, supported and rode with you.
It’s brought pain, it brought a deeper emotion than what I would get from a 2hr journey

Movie had a lot going for it but it also lacked things that hurt the overall enjoyment - like an actual realized villain. The heel-turn hero and evolved Deviant just weren’t compelling by any stretch of the imagination

It was well shot and swung for the fences in ways that a lot of MCU movies havent with the themes but I thought it was overall boring and the Villains were both mid.
After writing and thinking about the above, I just realized that the more wasn’t bad just aggressively mid
I probably said it earlier in the thread, but it'd be such a better movie if they if they took out the Deviants/Kro stuff in the modern day and left the Deviants as just the reason they were on Earth and have them defeated in the flashbacks. You'd have more time in the film to build the characters and have Ajak's death be the murder mystery bringing the group back together instead of immediately blaming some conveniently recently defrosted Deviants for it.
I mean, a big part of the core of the film are all these people finding different ways to cope with and deal with the fact they were here with a purpose and, once the purpose was seemingly fulfilled, they all tried to find their own individual meanings in existing on Earth while they were unknowingly just waiting for a Celestial to gestate. Let's sink in and deal with the weight of that reveal on it's own and their reactions to their God deceiving (most of) them.
Instead, the Deviants still chilling undercuts the whole crux of them fulfilling their mission and feeling abandoned by Arishem still stranded on Earth.
All that said, I like the movie, it's just the individual characters and the weight of what they're dealing with get such short shrift b/c you have to fight some Deviants every 20 mins. I think it'd play much better if they really made it the art-house piece they were hinting at and went lighter on the action but heavier on the characters.
