Yeah, but in a show like this, the racism would be overt, as nothing is subtle in this show.

Look at the confirmed racists in the show: st0rmfr0nt (a nazi), Bluehawk (a Trump supporter analogue) , and arguably Homelander. Out of that group, Homelander is probably the most subtle, but he's literally referred to middle eastern people as "illiterate camel jockeys" and was disgusted with his son learning Spanish. You could also argue that his love for Storm is another clue.

If Soldierboy WAS a racist, the show would absolutely portray that, because every character is over the top. What they were doing with the Bill Cosby quote is showing that Soldierboy is a chauvinist and sexist.

Soldier Boy fulfills a core want of Homelander, a father's acceptance and approval something he wanted from and didn't get from either Vogelbaum or Stan Edgar. While HL is obsessed with his image that doesn't interfere with his needs like we saw with his relationship with st0rmfr0nt. She gave him what Becca and Maeve wouldn't. She loved him, fed his ego and wanted to be a family with him, so it didn't matter that she was an actual German Nazi. I don't think we'll see the only one alpha deal with them, now that Soldier Boy sees HL as his son and HL can get a father that approves of what he is it makes it easier for SB to accept HL is more powerful because it is his genetics he said himself if he knew he would've given him the spotlight.

Spoiler: Prediction, guesses

My guess is either two things. Either HL reveals that SB is alive which lends credence to what Starlight said and he goes off the rails trying to sell Soldier Boy being alive but not a mass murderer or he'll never get to experience this relationship because SB is dying from that radiation because I can't see any other way of The Boys fighting the two man power trip. Edit/forgot Black Noir could also body or help body SB

The Black Noir animated flashbacks were very effective and it did make SB seem worse. IDK why but I think it probably worked better than if they did it live action with the actors. Also, a few episodes back Noir was doodling one of the characters, also

Soldier Boy is just another Edgar though. He’s not getting the Cosby “ America’s dad” routine from him. He’s going to get the Bill Cosby reality.

I think they are setting up Soldier Boy getting betrayed once again except it’s going to be Maeve, Starlight, MM, Huey, Kimiko, and Butcher taking the place of Payback. This gives MM some closure. And Homelander gets to be the actual hero he pretends to be.
