He is vaguely competent as a worker, but he's handicapped by that kind of shaky and weak personality. People don't respect that dude. He's never going to have the money the Roy's do, no one will, it's generational, but the way he carries himself is just weak. The extremely wealthy realize on some level that it's all meaningless, after a certain million dollar amount, Tom isn't looked down upon because he has less money, it's his character.

like my little story about making the guy carry their bags, that was about class/domination, Tom would carry the bags for Logan, or Kendall, or whoever, or even worse look at his wife, to ask if he should. That's not a person of respect. Those same guys would never even think about asking me to carry their bags.

Tom feels as though he is less than them and they know it. You don’t kowtow to people because of status or money. You get no respect. Now, you can respect someone because of their achievements, sure! But behaving as if you are less than because someone is rich? Fukk that.
