y’all both raising some great points…I just want to say his sniveling act more so seems conniving to me (he showed us who he really was when he made that play against shiv and the “kids”) but I understand not respecting him using that as a way to secure what he wants…I thought it was funny how tom said everything other than the bytch is lousy when tiptoeing around her audition tape…thought it was equally funny watching logan dance around it too and insisting he was “hands off” on the whole process lol…performance-wise I think the actor is great, character-wise I look at him primarily as comic relief so I’m no longer as disgusted with the character as I was in season one when I was still getting a feel for the show
He had to be written like that in order to be what he is now. Him and Greg.

Youre making points that are subjective and thats cool. He isnt sniveling in his marriage or work. Youre confusing his actions with Logan as if these are his actions with anyone other than Logan and that isnt the case. the reality is that Tom hasnt done anything differently than Gerri or Carl or the other guys as far as how they handle Logan with the exception that Tom has both stood up to Logan AND offered to sacrifice himself to Logan. Which is exactly why Tom is in the room. Keep in mind, this most recent episode, Tom is the only person that Logan sat down with at his birthday party.

Him accommodating that open marriage shyt to Shiv is definite knock, wont argue that. But thats my personal subjective opinion about not doing it. Being objective, he did something he didnt want to do for his marriage to continue but since doing so, he is the only one who actually has been having open relationship. Shiv did not respect him, I agree. That is also a knock to be with a woman that doesnt respect him. But I believe, and this is me just thinking where they are going with the writing, is that Shiv actually DOES respect him, she's just finding that out now because Tom is doing exactly what Shiv has WANTED to do. Earn her fathers respect and actually be comfortable in an open marriage. Thats why she was bothered by Tom being with Naomi and the whole Disgusting Brothers thing with Greg.

Back to my specific point, you have issues with the choices the character is making. I spoke about actor's performance and the writing of the character as well. It can not be denied that dude is killing this role as Tom and Tom's character, along with Greg are the only ones showing real development. Its more to his character portrayal than just him being a pushover in his marriage.
Yeah, it's all subjective. You seem to think being 'in the room' with Logan is a good thing? I don't, You think being in an open marriage for brazen career advancement is good? I don't.
So yeah, I'm going to judge those aims and I think they're not upstanding thus sniveling.
I'm judging the character not the actor or his supposed growth and from what? A complete pushover to a more savvy and self-aware one? Greeaaat.

Do me favor and post where I said or insinuated anything like that.

Deflection.........lol
juelz-talking.gif

I didnt try spinning into a win. I said Tom didnt mind.
Are you just gonna keep deflecting to Tom's sex life instead of answering the questions :jbhmm:
If Tom is as weak as you said he was, you should be able to bring up numerous examples of said weakness......instead of talking about his sex life :manny:

He need to pick a side and stick with it. But his childhood trauma won't let him not need his dad's acceptance.
He wanted to do The Hundred and turn the page on he and his siblings vs his Dad but got overruled.
He didn't want to go overboard in their bid for Pierce and his siblings wanted to add half a billion just to make the number round and got overruled.
He didn't want to hold out for more money and possibly ruin the deal and again was overruled.
I think at this point it is smart of him to hedge, his siblings aren't listening to him and moving dumb. Plus, Logan had a point. He is a conservative moreso than a liberal so Pierce isn't something he is that enamored with. The idea is to be on the winning team, isn't it?

I agree with this and him being overruled has been a common theme for 1.5 seasons. But you win some and you lose some and if you pick a side then you ride it out for the better or the worse.

And really he sat down and talked to his Dad he hasn't switched sides. So, just keeping your options open isn't the worst thing. He hasn't officially flipped.

I'm all for self preservation if my decision doesn't affect anyone else but he willingly agreed to join his siblings to create their own path outside of Logan and it looks like he's about to renege on that commitment.
