Best take I've seen recently is that if your job requires a college degree, our student loan payments should be tax write offs, same as CEO's do with all their private jets and shyt

Why wouldn’t they? In the current political climate they’re immune to any backlash.

It’s interesting to think about though. When a debt is discharged, it’s closed.

So those millions who would have gotten zero balances… :wow:

And it’s not like SCOTUS administratively can make it happen in real time.

The issue with the interim rule strategy is that if you’re going to do it, you need to be damn sure you can discharge all that debt quickly. That requires Department of Education moving fast. It’s an understaffed and underfunded agency. Tough.

Anyone signed up for that SAVE repayment?
Yes. 3 of my loans didn’t qualify so those had to stay on a standard idr. But SAVE seems really good. I don’t make enough for the payment to be crazy high. I’m just going to make my minimum payments until they’re done. No sense in paying it off, I’d rather invest my extra money into index fund

My remaining balance is $39,000 or so. I have PSLF and due to the PSLF Waiver, I got all the payment pause months counting :blessed:

So I got 74 out of 120 now.

The IDR adjustment to forgive $39B for 800,000 borrowers, many of whom have paid in excess of their balances and are entitled to loan forgiveness under the rules…. Went through the negotiated rule making process as this BI article notes.

These MFers at Cato are seeking an injunction. Loans are scheduled to be forgiven this coming week.

Keep fukking with these dumb republicans because they're your "friends" POTUS

:ohhh: I’m at like 80 right now. The pause counting as payments was a fukking cheat code. It would be an honor to have my loans forgiven under the 2024-2028 Biden administration :blessed:
