It did numbers throughout the week tho. Probably make 40-50 this weekend. I think it's already at what the last one did domestically. It'll be tough but it can still get to 300 domestically which I assume the hope is aside from just getting people excited about the character again. If it plays more like batman begins or the first iron man I feel like that's a W but the studios may see it differently.
Edit: it'll be at what amazing 2 did by the end of the weekend. And strangely it's ahead of where spider man was after 8 days back in 02. Not by much but it's ahead. Which is...odd to me. That movie was huge and an actual cultural moment. It played for a while tho

They should have released this during august when their is basically 0 competition.

Valerian ain't eating into this lol. Not in the states anyway. And Dunkirk probably won't either.
And yeah I think August would've been better but the benefit is there's no comp for it in August now to keep moving. Apes is too adult and for some reason this one isn't catching on like Dawn did. Dunkirk is also adult. So it's good to have something more family friendly and this is that option right now.
Valerian will at the very least take some specialty screens away. As will Dunkirk.
And dark tower comes out august 4th,I can't speak for its quality or how huge it will be but i have seen 40 million ish box office numbers being thrown around for OW.
I'm curious as to how dark tower does. Don't have a feel for it at all. I think that one really will depend on word of mouth and critical response unless you're a die hard Stephen king fan

I'll be seeing it opening weekend since I absolutely love the books.
