Official SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Thread

When we saw Spider-Man going up against a contingent of Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Captain America: Civil War something seemed to be missing, as several characters were able to get the drop on The Webhead without his Spidey-Sense tingling and alerting him to the imminent danger.

Some figured this would be addressed in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but it turns out this MCU incarnation of the iconic Marvel hero simply doesn't have that ability... at least, not yet.

While being interviewed by CinemaBlend, director Jon Watts explained why the Spider-Sense was ditched:

I feel like we have seen a lot of Spider Sense in the previous films, so we didn't really lean into that as hard as they have in the previous films. But I do think it is a really interesting thing to explore.
Though this is sure to annoy some purists, having seen the movie I can tell you that this doesn't really make a whole lot of difference - but that's not to say I didn't miss it. Perhaps that on top of all of Stark's suit-upgrades would have seemed like overkill?

I'm not watching this trash and I think we all should come together and protest this movie!

Like this just completely ruined it us in my most important opinion.

It actually makes sense.. He says his senses are heightened that's why he had the goggles / eyes Tony makes ... he's been spidey about 6 months... once he masters the heightened senses and etc and learns to control it ... it develops into the spidey sense...

I like when the hero doesn't alwya have all his powers at start.. let some develop over time

Yeah he told me about that shyt months ago and he was quite perturbed and I didn't get it either and still don't entirely but if its something he grows into, coolio. But I do get them trying to go left of the other 5 movies

I'm cool with the guy who wrote the initial story and did the interview with Watts. So we talked about some stuff he learned on set after the set reports came out. And that was one thing he was initially not happy about along with spidey having his own Jarvis. So yeah a lot of stuff that's come out, like his suits capabitlies and the spider sense, I've known for a while but just didn't say shyt cause it wasn't my place to tell and that's my boy.

Your sentence makes no sense. If I'm ranking it wouldn't it be personal? Are you asking which are my personal favorites or what do I really think is the best? Because I enjoy amazing 1 the most but spider man 2 is the best of the bunch and spider man 3 is dead last. The middle joints can all be shuffled around for me in terms of quality and my own enjoyment of them. I was never a big fan of the first flick when it dropped in 02 although there are things I really do enjoy about it.

That's like me saying Wolverine: Origins is my favorite

We haven't talked about all that lol. Last time we talked was when he posted his twitter reaction and we said we'd talk again after I see the movie. But yeah Feige also said it picks up right after that flick so I figure that's the plan. Same with Watts coming back since he's contracted. The only way he wouldn't is if it bombs

It's much much better than that movie tho lol. It's got an emotional center it has an arc and I believe all of the relationships in it. The spidey stuff is on point as well. Is it perfect? Hell no but it felt the most spidey to me of the movies I've seen so far. Hopefully that changes Friday

Like I know some stuff is hard to believe but then I know a lot of these people out in these industries are real people and they knew people before they got to whatever level they got in there industry.

Like I'm an OG of Chris Paul, he grew up watching me play ball on the courts and neighborhood and later I was there and watched him drop 61 on my high school (his infamous story). I played ball with and against Josh Howard and 9th Wonder is my OG. I dont see him much but I do get to catch up with him at least once every year and we talk shyt out all the shyt we're rivals in (we went to rival high schools, colleges, and I'm a Niners fan and he loves the Bears... matter fact next time I see him I'm still gonna clown him on how we fleeced them on that draft pick).

But stuff like that is mad cool.

It wasn't shot in 3D so I wouldn't fall for the hustle if I were you. But seeing it on a big screen is probably a must so if you don't want to do IMAX since you'll have to do the glasses, find an AMC with the Dolby digital reserved seating. You get a screen almost the same size as IMAX with comparable clarity and sound plus the reclining seats
