Still never finished Homecoming, but one thing I realize is this kid is the perfect spidey I just don't care much for his adventures anymore...but I'll be more interested for this flick tho because of Mysterio.

Spiderman 'dying' in A3 was, for me and I think a lot of people, the emotional height of that flick - showing him goofing around with Ned before A4 brings him back would be an example of 'iffyness' to me.

Undermining one movie to promote the next.

Well that was always the tricky part. Not sure how they’ll pull it off. But now is the time to promote it.

Why? Not one extra ticket will be sold from promoting THIS movie right now.

Now is the time in the traditional sense homie. You don’t start promoting a July movie with this much money behind it in February or March. So you start in December. January at the latest. Plus, again, he’s already been on kimmel promoting it. Set pics are already out. You can’t put that genie back in the bottle so why play dumb? You gotta invest your marketing dollars early before you don’t have the room or money to do so anymore.

This isn’t a blumhouse flick where they could promote it a few months from release and everything will be everything. It’s more to it than just arbitrarily picking a spot on a calendar. You’ve got to have a whole marketing plan and have partners in place and licensing deals etc and those people were given dates and times so they can benefit.

Which is exactly why I said THIS MOVIE. Marvel doesnt have to promote A4 in a traditional sense and Sony doenst need to promote this in a traditional sense. None of your post addresses specifically why this movie has to be promoted in a traditional manner. If there ever was a time for some outside the box shyt, its now. But being mediocre and all around disappointing is what got Sony in this mess to begin with so i guess its a little much to ask for now.

Breh if I had my choice they wouldn’t promote any of these movies in the traditional sense. But that train has passed already. Marvel helps make the promo decisions for this movie too so don’t put that all on Sony. This is a choice he and Amy pascal have made. It is what it is. They both gave the thumbs up for Tom Holland to be on kimmel. And the countdown to the movie is on marvel.com, not Sony’s website.

So again this is a choice they all made and they’re riding with it. Once again the cat is out of the bag so it is what it is.

Ok when you said now is the time to promote it, it came across like you agreed with the decision. They could have handled this situation a lot better and used the opportunity to come up with something unique. But yeah its too late for that.

I agree with it from a business standpoint. I don’t agree with it creatively. Business wise I get it. Completely. You do deals with people who want you to do shyt early because they have stuff depending on it. And you’ve got quarterly numbers to hit and other fiscal shyt. Hollywood is a big ass business with a lot of tentacles and the bigger the movie, the more tangled those tentacles get. Also as far as timing, there are no other big movies in January or February that you can attach this too. Doing it in December of this year makes sense when you’ve got aquaman. Marry poppins. And another Spider-Man movie. Business wise, makes sense.

Creatively I wouldn’t promote the movie until April or May. But I also know how business wise that wouldn’t line up. It’s why I’m not the CEO of a major company tho:manny:
