Sorry to say, AJ/Bryan isn't what it looks like on paper. I liked the matches they had on TV especially the one where Bryan won the title, but the ones they've had on PPV seems like they're tryin' way too hard to make it 'feel' epic but it's not. Someone on FB tried to say "it's cause Vince won't let them do them"... he lets Rey and Andrade do them and they turn out dope shyt all month, so why would I believe he somehow holdin' AJ and Bryan back? They just didn't hsve a good match, that's all.
Finn/Brock was about what I expected. Hell, in many ways it's what the AJ/Bryan match shoulda been- nothing too long, nonstop action, definitive finish, post-match shenanigans.
There were some blah points in the Men's Rumble but I gotta say, I did like the fact they had some different guys in there and gave them all some time to shine... Dunne, Black, and Gargano were dope additions, also Ali is getting some good looks, Joe was a beast in there for a while, Drew was killin', I didn't even expect Shelton but he did his thing, etc. And the Nia Jax shyt was hilarious, most entertaining part of the match. I also kinda appreciate that they didn't rely on trotting out old guys who they always tout as threats to win but you know damn well they ain't- namely Kane & Big Show. It's clear though, that folks like Hardy, Orton, Ziggler, and to a lesser extent Rey got time passin' them by. Rey seems rejuvenated a lil bit as of late (them Andrade matches
) but the other three, they're just faces in the crowd at this point. Women's Rumble wasn't quite that dope this year. I was OK with the lack of Legends and whatnot, but there was just too much shyt in there that was supposed to be entertaining/funny/etc that fell flat. The Hornswoggle shyt was comical, the Lana injury/Nia beatdown was
, and the Becky pop-up was dope AF. I'd say when they got down to the last 6-7 women it got good. Bayley even showed some fire in there, and she's been boring forever. Both the women's matches were dope, didn't care for the tag match but I figured I wouldn't. Everyone needs a piss break, so
