The talent pool got deeper. She was average at best in the ring but her character work and mic work elevated her b/c at the time, the division wasn't quite set yet. Now, you have women who have as good, if not better character and mic work *and* they can go in the ring (ex. Ruby Riott) while at the same time, Alexa hasn't stepped her cookies up at all in regards to her ring work and is still playing the same character, hitting the same notes, and hasn't revamped or refreshed her character in any way. In short, everyone else caught up and what was standout at the time, is now *standard*.
Oh I agree with you. 100%. But when someone says they don’t understand why Alexa gets a pop to me that’s borderline . A year ago she was the biggest name in women’s wrestling, easy. Combine that with her injury timeout, and the pop makes perfect sense.
