It may sound weird describing, but this will be a rumble ppv that's much much more fun to watch back than it was watching live. It was a chore in places due to not being able to skip some stuff.
The sequencing affected the crowd which affected the matches too. The AJ/KO/Zayn match was good/great to kick it off. The two tag matches were skippable with weird finishes. The WWE title match was ok but frustrating like most of Brock's last few matches because you can tell when the ending sequence is starting a mile away.
The men's rumble was great. I wish Rusev and Elias could have been there to the end with Finn, Naka, and Roman, but it was dope to have the old school vs. new school. Rey had me smiling like it was 97 all over again. He looks great and was bouncing around like he got his groove back.
It's great that we're finally got a decent rumble after the last 5-7 years of disappointment.
The women's rumble was much better than it had any right to be. That top rope made it difficult for a few eliminations but they worked around it well. The hall of fame and soon to be hall of fame appearances (Lita, Trish, Beth, Jacqueline, Vickie and MOLLY
) were awesome and well done. I loved the Trish/Molly callback (complete with Trish doing the V gesture) and wouldn't mind seeing them mix it up one last time. The non HOF women (McCool, Bellas, Torrie, K2) could have stayed in the back
. The full timers held their own. Ember is gonna be a problem. Sasha needs to be heel like yesterday and was deserving of the iron woman award. She should have been thrown out twice for that sequence with Lita though
. I love Nia just for her presence. She knows her strengths and is using them perfectly. Asuka is going to be the undisputed GOAT if she doesn't get injured. She just gets it. Everything from how she swags to the ring to her mocking Ember is just gold. I'm glad she won.
Ron just wasn't needed last night IMO and could have made a bigger impact tonight, but it is what it is.
All in all it was a great evening simply because they got the big stuff right with both rumbles.
