ROH wasn't built on entertainment? :what:

The whole point of the sport of professional wrestling is to entertain an audience :what:

Right? Like what the fukk is the point of a wrestling company if not to entertain someone?

I swear, sometimes wrestling fans try too damn hard sometimes.

I didn't think I would have to go into detail about that comment in this thread.:beli:

ROH was built off of focusing on the sport aspect of professional wrestling.
the WWE is sports entertainment.
the median has always been TNA.

yes sports are meant to entertain the viewers, but theres a clear difference between sports & sports entertainment.

enzo & cass are the epitomy of sports entertainment.
I thought for sure that they would reunite & see if they can maybr get over in impact.
not trying to see these dudes in ROH at all.

The very first segment of the very first ROH show involved over the top stereotypical (even for the time) gay characters getting massacred by real street hittas followed by multiple backstage promos.

Just saying.

Quite a while. ROH has always had its share of gimmicks and sports entertainment stuff, though. Literally since day one, segment one.

Also pretty debatable if the Christopher Street Connection or Monsta Mack could work a match.

ECW nostalgia has always been in the DNA of the company as well, which is sad that it's still going on almost 20 fukking years after ECW went out of business. Tommy Dreamer was popping in for cheap pops in 2003 :damn:

I forgot all about those names. wow.

but im saying, when ROH started taking off, how common was that stuff?

of course theres gonna always be ECW nostalgia in ROH. theyre one of the main promotions that directly inherited ECW's fanbase from day one. hell, they prolly ran more shows from the ecw arena than ECW themselves at this point.

More common than people seem to remember. There have literally always been gimmick wrestlers and dumb angles in ROH. It's not like it was just pure wrestling all the time, it was never that even when it was promoted as such. The 2002-2003 shows are ROH at it's "purest" and it featured over the top gay panic camp characters, ring crew guys turned wrestlers, gangsta type dudes, attempted company takeovers, worked shoots, stable wars stealing girlfriends and shyt, a whole stable of flippy fukks on poppers and ecstasy, brawls and garbage matches all the way up to bringing in 60 year old Abdullah The Butcher to main event a show, attempted murders, and so on.

of course its going to have all of that. its still a modern wrestling company.

I think yall are taking the term "pure" a bit too literal.
