More common than people seem to remember. There have literally always been gimmick wrestlers and dumb angles in ROH. It's not like it was just pure wrestling all the time, it was never that even when it was promoted as such. The 2002-2003 shows are ROH at it's "purest" and it featured over the top gay panic camp characters, ring crew guys turned wrestlers, gangsta type dudes, attempted company takeovers, worked shoots, stable wars stealing girlfriends and shyt, a whole stable of flippy fukks on poppers and ecstasy, brawls and garbage matches all the way up to bringing in 60 year old Abdullah The Butcher to main event a show, attempted murders, and so on.
