Season 4: Episode 7
There was a lot going on this episode but it was entertaining.
Quinn has really came into her own. I have said it before in some form, but she is really proving that she is a Gladiator through and through. However, she still needs to work on her approach to certain situations. I mean, okay, I'm sure she didn't expect ol' boy to kill himself, but she should have been prepared for him doing something so drastic, especially when being accused of treachery.
I had mentioned last week, that Huck's meetup with his son would eventually occur. I liked that they actually changed up the scenario and his son ended up seeking him out. I still believe that this reunion will have a bad outcome though.
One thing that I really like about this season, is that they are delving more into the character's back-story's and reconnecting past scenarios. We all knew that Abby was married to an abusive man, and that Olivia had saved her from the marriage and gave her a Gladiator position. Up until tonight, we had known that Abby's husband was in politics, due to her standing up David at one of the White House events, so that she wouldn't run into him. I wasn't expecting for their paths to cross again, but it made for an interesting story.
Abby was more tolerable than usual this episode and I think its because she shown a vulnerability that we hadn't seen before. I also am liking that Olivia was actually there for her. We have seen a few times, Abby comforting a reluctant Olivia, but it was nice to see that Olivia can return the favor. It adds that layer to what was revealed earlier in the season, of them being friends back in college.
So Leo is back? Well he's okay and all but I wish Sally would show up. I mentioned reconnecting and I am glad that they continued to play upon the attraction that Leo had towards Abby, during last season. I wonder if they will continue to go forward with it and involve David. I guess time shall tell.
The parking garage scene between Abby and Chip was eerie. I am glad that she was able to grab her gun out of (I imagine) her glove compartment, but its like why they hell didn't she have (on her) some pepper spray, a whistle, hell a pocketknife...something? I just found it odd for not just someone who is in her position of seeing up close and personal how crazy people can be, but just being a woman in general. It's not fair, but it is what it is. We can't act brand new about certain situations.
Moving on...Good for Leo on doing the right thing. We all know how he is willing to win at any cost, but him leaking the information about her ex, showed that he has genuine feelings for Abby.
So, Cyrus finally got somewhat of a clue.
Tom...
Great scene between him and Olivia. I think her having to treat Tom as her father would, was great writing. Unfortunately, him spilling the beans about Rowan- well he'll more than likely end up dead the next time.
As for Olivia...
Mellie...
All of her attempts to try and be more than what she is, aren't making the impact that she believes. Fitz is only thinking about Olivia giving him 'hope.'
Speaking of...Not surprising that Fitz gave in to Olivia's wishes to check on her other man.
He tried it with that phone call. Diverting attention from what is really going on, is one of his main problems.
Should be interesting to see the 3 Bedskeeters attempt at taking down Rowan. The audacity of Fitz to think that Jake should let bygones be bygones.
Overall, good episode.
