Forum so damn redundant....

Werd, its worn me down quickly and I'm not even involved.

In other news, i want a good veggie burger right now but I don't think theres any vegan spots on my side of town and its too hot to drive to the southwest. Guess I'll go to pappasbbq instead.

I'm not a vegan/vegetarian anyway but I do enjoy their foods. I'm going to try the morningstar burgers a try, their hot dogs are pretty good so the burgers can't be too far off.

their hot dogs are G.O.A.T. i'm not vegetarian either. i just rarely eat meat. the drawback is it gives you the worst gas.

i'm going to try this "raw" recipe of beets and nuts that are supposed to taste pretty close to the real thing. apparently foods mushrooms and nuts mimic the taste of meat pretty well when seasoned

The Sunny Raw Kitchen: Autumn Yummies
Makes 6-8

1-1/2 c walnuts
¼ onion
¼ beet
½ carrot
2 clove garlic
2 T agave (to taste)
2 T soy sauce/tamari
2 t hickory smoke flavor*
1 t marjoram
½ t celery seed
½ t salt
½ t smoked paprika
sprinkle cayenne pepper

Blend till smooth in food processor.
Form dough into hot dog shapes on teflex (6-8).
Dehydrate 105 about 4 hrs.
Flip onto grid dehydrate to the texture you like. (Another hr or so.) Roll lightly into shape.
Serve warm.

*Carmella's Notes:
~ Hickory/ liquid smoke can be found in health food store, usually alongside other savory sauces.
~ This is pretty intense stuff so I would recommend starting with less than what's called for.

beware, some of these raw foodist exaggerate. told me kale would taste like potatoes. lying mofos. the kale was delicioso though

i love black bean burgers. i make them homemade. i just boiled a whole bag of beans and froze the rest so i would stop buying cans of beans that cost as much as a whole darn bag. i love the burgers with ranch dressing :ohlawd:

but i can't wait to try portobello mushroom "steaks"

Portobello burgers marinated in balsamic vinegar and grilled topped with swiss and sauteed onions. :noah:

I heard the same thing about kale which inspired me to try kale chips and they tasted nothing like potatoes although they are good...they just taste like a baked green leaf.

i didn't really taste any leaf. my recipe was similar to this. i tasted seasoning.

Baked Kale Chips Recipe with Garlic, Onion & Parsley
Ingredients:
1/2 large bunch of kale, any leaf shape
a few teaspoons of olive oil
1/2 – 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1/2 – 1 teaspoon of onion powder
1/2 – 1 teaspoon of coarse salt
A few handfuls of fresh parsley, chopped

Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

2. Wash and dry kale, remove and discard the thick stem/stalk and rip the kale into pieces, roughly 2-3 inches in size.

3. Drizzle the oil on top and using your hands, make sure the oil is well distributed. Then shake on the garlic powder, onion powder and salt. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the leaves are browning.

4. Place the chips in a bowl and scatter parsley all over.

On the Edge of Glory
Sitting here watching the Olympics and browsing some sites. Been home for a bit- went to the casino and barely stayed two hours. :scusthov: Yet I give myself a limit to spend and if x amount can't do it, than it won't be done.

Anyways, this is still my song...

of course nowhere near this classic gem (below) but still a very enjoyable collaboration.
