I do like the show level of self awareness and intelligence.
It was illustrated well in the rope scene with Father and child. It knows how to tiptoe around cliches and yet able keep the scene worthwhile. Usually scenes like this holds so light value outside of faking out the audience. I strongly believe it really sets the tone for the show. The first 30 minutes was doing the mundane origins of building the setting, characters, and narrative style. The rope scene established and applied the rules of this particular universe. It's fascinating scene. It builds character and father's companionship with humans, but backdrops on a tired character death trope that we've seen a thousands times. It isn't all what you expect and a catastrophic situation was easily defeated with logic and intelligence. It's refreshing, and scene still hold value for both characters outside of what would be call a generic fake out. Father was willing to risk his life and disobey Mother for the protection of their single human that was doomed for extinction and coming to terms with their unforeseen failures to save humanity on their own. It was a really deep scene that was so smooth and effortless.
Just finished watching the 3 episodes. A question about mother?
They mention she is a necromancer designed for mass extermination, and was reprogrammed as a caretaker. I assume by the atheists, but does that mean the religious side were the ones who originally created them? She is kinda OP right now
Mother/Father carrying the show so far for me. The visual of Mother going super android is pretty cool.
Space Ragnar has a development to his character I didn't expect.
Quickly revealed that both sides of the war were on that BS.

When I saw Ridley Scott was attached to this I knew the visuals would be great & wasn't disappointed after the first episode. I was more worried about the story but I'm liking it so far. We'll see how the story unfolds
If you asked me to describe a concept for a show that I wanted to see, this would be exactly it. I also expect this show to actually happen in the future assuming we dont make Earth uninhabitable before our technology gets us to the point where we can move to other planets.
Im all in.
I mostly enjoyed the episodes so far, but I was annoyed that they had so few children to repopulate the planet, and theres no way they wouldnt have tested the plants before feeding them to everyone.
