He's alive, in the DLC he goes to the church looking for Aerith and refugees fleeing the sector 7 plate drop are there, meaning the events of part 1 has already happened at that point.

At first I thought Zack carrying cloud to Midgard was just a vision from the past, but the DLCs ending basically confirms he's alive in the present.

I always thought Cait Sith got shytted on too hard by the fanbase. While he was lackluster in battle, he wasn't a bad character.
Will be nice to see how Rebirth improves upon him

This is trend in this country as well. We give employers too much power over the personal lives of its employees. If one of my AP clerks cheated on their spouse it would be none of my business. We not even legally allowed to ask about marital status during interviews when hiring people. I guess to prevent some sort of hiring discrimination, but really they might as well change that they people doing nowadays
