This show is starting to remind me of The Chi if we’re being honest. The way it doles out these “life lessons”, “differences” and the mellow dramatic soap opera twist are very similar. You don’t see this kind of stuff done on Atlanta, insecure, snowfall etc. If they do add in the social commentary it’s done in a very natural way that relates to the story.

I’d really like to see what the writing room for this show is looking like…

The Chi is dope it’s way better than this shyt

I’m on season 3 of The Chi tho so I don’t know what happens later on

The social commentary on this show is trash it’s borderline disrespectful to black people

No Whammies!!
I feel the opposite. GOH is a good show but it’s not even close to being historically accurate and the characters are unbelievable. They have veteran actors to carry the BS to make the show better than it actually is IMO.

Godfather of Harlem and Snowfall may be less historically accurate to their time periods, but they're both still better shows.

The setting is the best thing about Power III.

Hold up.....yall thought Epps being Kanan's dad was a twist??? :mjlol:

When this cat was going to the doctor and they told him, you need to find a match or you're dead, where did you think they were going with it?? :mjlit: Juke real daddy or sumn?

I've enjoyed this shyt so far :yeshrug: You mofos are bugging calling it trash and I'm sure a high percentage of the one's saying are just following along with the crowd here. Joey Badass is KILLING it as Unique. This nikka is channeling Rakim and some real Fort Greene nikkas but y'all unfamiliar. I aint all that familiar with his music (like everything I heard tho) but maybe y'all having a hard time seeing him outside of that.

Now is the show Wire level? Hell no. But no one should've expected that. This shyt is better than the Chi RIGHT NOW. The Chi is ass but a fun "hate watch". This aint that. Got it flaws tho:

Kanan: his resemblance to a young fifty got him the gig but they gotta scuff this kid up some. He soft and it shows sometimes. Is he carribean? Cuz sometimes when he tryna sound tough I hear a lil accent. I get the slow burn...but I'm expecting Raq and the uncles to die horribly. Cuz right now while they might be grooming him to be a hustler, I don't see this kid growing up to push his way into old ladies apartments and strangling them with his bare hands. Nope. Or shooting his own son in cold blood. Not yet. They got time. I don't know how many seasons they gonna get to try to build to that tho.

Juke: Facial expressions be killing me. She really went for it in the scene she got kicked outta white girl crib. I feel like this ep was shot before the earlier ones. She was kinda extra in this one with everything, like when she was telling them she knew more about girls than they did. Previous eps her personality was more "cool and laidback". Even if she was mad. This ep felt like she hadn't settled into her "choice" in how she was gonna play Jukebox yet. Don't mind me just me and my few lil acting credits talking lol.

Raq: Boss chick. No complaints, actress killing it down to the Queens accent. But 50...got dammit...get her a better 2 finger ring bruh! You know Raq wouldn't wear that cheap coliseum shyt LOL!

Marvin and Lou Lou: I like em both. Marvin's high top can go tho. I hope he don't betray the family.

Scrap infiltrating Unique's crew should be obvious as hell.

Kanan's mom's accent is killing me.

Not sure why they think half these sex scenes need to be set to Jukebox singing. shyt is weird :mjlol:

Oh, look, Epps is the pappy :comeon:

I can see Marv pulling some hoe shyt if his lil siblings keep big doggin him.

shows not trash at all it’s just not that compelling. It does just enough to
Keep me paying attention.

Like if You really think about it there’s no real tension or high points. Feels like there’s no real plot or purpose to what’s going on, no ultimate goal.

with ghost the end game was getting out of the drug game and going legit, being with the one who got away. With Tariq his goal is to get his mom out of prison and now with this what’s the point?

We all know kanan is gonna live until the end so anytime they put him in a dangerous situation we know it’s just fluff. In fact Kanan is the least interesting character so far. All he do is mumble and try and talk like 50

The show was advertised as Kanan's backstory. In a VoiceOver in the 1st ep he says "Y'all all KNOW how my story ends. This is how it started".
So the goal of the show been out there before the 1st ep dropped. To explore how the main villain became a villain. They gotta few tropes running but this is all entertainment purposes only. The target audience is ppl that watched and enjoyed the original Power. Period. I don't think they are shooting for any awards here even tho IMO Joey Badass is doing his thing.

Kanan is the least interesting I agree. I think the most interesting guy to me right now is Marvin. A real fukk up, but he's the oldest. I think he means well most of the time, he just dumb. I laughed out loud when the fam was chewing out Kanan for shooting Buck 20, and this fool says to Juke, his MFin daughter..."And where was you when all this shooting was going on??" Like what kinda idiot questions why his daughter wasn't at a shootout...that shouldnt'na happened?? Lmao. He just wanted to say some parental shyt at that moment and as usual, fukked it up.
But Marvin will fukk you up while wearing dress slacks and hard bottoms tho :mjlol:

Nah man...either these writers are THAT bad or HB-gOds spoiled me.

This the same soap opera gangsta bullshyt we been getting from Power S3 till now.

Knowing what a monster Big Kanan was, Raq divine looks and Marvins old gangsta demeanor...idk if it's enough to keep up every week.

I might forget about it and watch it low grade show style, when the season is over: binge and fforward fforward fforward stop for a min then back to fforwarding.

I don’t like this story because its too similar to the family in the Tariq spinoff

:ohhh::ohhh::ohhh::ohhh:

You're on to something here. That's why 50 cared for that little punk. He was a rich square kid that wanted to be a G but desperately needed a teacher.

Never saw the Tariq spin so I am basing my angle on Power Ghost fam.
