I like this much better than power book II.

this show is modeled around goodfellas and they want each Power spin-off to feel different

Yes, they clearly wanted to make this look like Goodfellas.
And also to have chances to have the narrator "break the 4th wall" and talk directly to the 2021 audience.

I was expecting a nikka that grows up to be Kanan to have came up super hard and be at a young age

But they made this nikka spoiled in a nice house and potentially Stuyvesant bound dude nerdy as hell and he just decides to catch a body because he want to be in the streets

It don’t have to be these bougie god damn legacy drug families we already have two shows of that
